Applications Developer

Cleveland

We are currently seeking a full-time Applications Developer (40 hours/week) to join the Information Services department in any of our following offices; Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, or Dayton.  This position is responsible for developing, building, maintaining and supporting the Firm’s internal and external applications as well as assisting in defining and establishing direction for the Firm’s custom applications.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Designing, building and testing a variety of applications, integrations and extensions/customizations to support the Firm’s business.
  • Maintaining a development (test) environment.
  • Working with third party developers and manages outsourced work.
  • Assisting with data flow definitions throughout the Firm to help reduce redundant data, including data feeds to/from major line of business systems (e.g. financial, HRIS, document management, etc.).
  • Investigating and examining new technologies for functionality within the Firm.
  • Creating and maintaining web development environment (hardware and tools) infrastructure.

Qualified candidates will have three to five years’ experience and a Bachelor of Art or a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience.  The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of MS SQL, database schemas, views, stored procedures and complex T-SQL statements preferred along with experience designing and developing web-based applications utilizing Microsoft Visual Studio with .Net and C# for internal business applications.  Knowledge of web services and API is also desirable. 

 

 


Billing Coordinator

Cleveland

We are currently seeking a full-time Billing Coordinator (40 hours/week) to join the Finance department in our downtown Cleveland office.  This position will process client bills and assist secretaries in all billing functions.

 

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Process all client bills for the Cleveland office and firm-wide attorneys. This includes generating proformas, making narrative edits, adjusting hours as needed, processing adjustments as needed, ensuring proper approvals, and finalizing invoices.
  • Work with various electronic billing vendors as directed by clients.
  • Answer questions, resolve problems and provide assistance to secretaries as requested.
  • Research pending invoice reports periodically throughout the month.
  • Act as back up for other Billing Coordinators.
  • Pull copies of archived bills as requested.
  • Run reports on the Aderant and/or InfoView systems for attorneys, paralegals and/or secretaries (i.e., unbilled time reports, outstanding invoice reports, audit reports and inquiries).
  • Monitor and respond in a timely manner to the Billing Help Line and e-mail account.
  • Other essential functions as requested by the Billing Manager.

 Qualified candidates will possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of office experience is required. Preference will be given to those with billing experience in a professional services firm and/or additional experience in accounting functions. Ideal candidates will have an Associates or Bachelor's degree in a finance-related related field, and experience in law firm setting using the Aderant financial system.

 

To be successful in this role, candidates must maintain a high standard of customer service and work well in a team setting. We are seeking candidates for a full-time Corporate Secretary (37.5 hrs/week) in our Cincinnati office. Scheduled hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position will provide secretarial support/administrative assistance and manage workflow for attorneys and/or paralegals. 
 
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Information Governance Clerk

Cincinnati
We are seeking candidates for a full-time (40 hours per week) Information Governance Clerk to join our Cincinnati office. This position will primarily be responsible for categorizing, securing, and retrieving information for both digital and physical legal case files. Additionally, this role will also heavily focus on applying and maintaining retention policies and practices to case information in all relevant repositories. 

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure proper and consistent categorization and naming conventions for all official records and documents.
  • Operate scanner to image records for both open and closed matters within best practice guidelines.
  • Quality-check all digitized client and administrative material for clarity and completeness.
  • Apply proper security permissions for all digital information.

National Practice and Regional Growth Manager

We are currently seeking candidates for a full-time National Practice & Regional Growth Manager to be based in our Chicago office.  The person in this role will provide office-specific support to the Chicago office and practice group support to assigned firm-wide practice group(s).  This individual will work collaboratively to share knowledge and actively partner with others across the Marketing & Strategy team.  This position reports to an engaged Senior Marketing Operations Direct (based in Cleveland).

Practice Technology Specialist

We are currently seeking candidates for a full-time (40 hours per week) Practice Technology Specialist in our in our downtown Cleveland office.  This position will be an integral member of the Practice Technology team and will be responsible for providing technical and other support to the Firm's lawyers and paralegals as well as the Practice Technology team within Information Services.  This position is also responsible for thoroughly understanding the Firm's litigation technology processes. 

 

Specific job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Use the firm’s data processing tools, and specifically iPro eCapture, to evaluate, organize and process data for use with Eclipse. Troubleshoot data issues and communicate data issues and resolutions to the case managers.
  • Through training and ongoing education, become the team’s eCapture expert responsible for troubleshooting issues, managing upgrades and communicating functionality.
  • Educate new lawyers and secretaries on the Firm’s best practices for data organization and data management on network shares and in the document management system.
  • Assist with review, implementation and support of legal applications as requested to promote lawyer efficiencies.
  • Prepare ebinders for legal teams using both Nuance and functionality within the document management system.
  • Create secured, standardized folders on approved network shares. Update tracking logs as appropriate.
  • Monitor server disk space occupied by Practice Technology data and recommend options for optimal storage configuration. Work with the firm’s network engineers to implement necessary changes.
  • Work with the Practice Technology team to further develop, implement and sustain standard desktop images for virtual and desktop machines.
  • Assist other members of the Practice Technology group with technical support questions regarding file copies, file types, printer setups, database utilities, etc. This may involve making support calls to various vendors or using other resources to find answers in a timely manner. Solutions must be documented and stored in the document management system.
  • Assist lawyers and paralegals with technical support questions regarding Practice Technology products and tools. This includes setting up dual monitors, installing applications or utilities, configuring printers, etc.
  • Provide training and "how to" documentation at the request of the legal team or Practice Technology team regarding PT hardware and software or utilities pushed through Software Center.
  • Assist lawyers, paralegals, and the Practice Technology team members with approved data uploads and downloads from various cloud-based storage solutions such as DropBox and ShareFile.
  • Capture social media sites, web sites and videos using available tools.
  • Provide off-site support for trial preparation and assistance at trial using courtroom technology. This includes courtroom setup, war room setup and in-court technical assistance. Professional Development Coordinator

Thompson Hine’s Chicago office is seeking a full-time (40 hrs/wk) Professional Development Coordinator to join our firm-wide Talent Management team. This position will be primarily responsible for supporting the implementation and administration of all attorney professional development initiatives across the Firm. These include practice area-specific trainings and our employed lawyer review and compensation processes, among others.

Project Assistant- Immigration

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Assistant to join the Immigration group in our Downtown Cleveland office. This full-time (40 hrs/week) position’s primary function will be to support the Immigration practice by completing billable and managing administrative tasks. This role will be under the direct supervision of the attorneys in the immigration group and will work closely with paralegals.

We are currently seeking candidates for a full-time (40 hours per week) Research Librarian in our downtown Columbus office.  This exempt position will be an integral member of the Library’s Virtual Research Desk (VRD) team.

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Performs legal, business, scientific, medical, technical, engineering, marketing, biographical, public records, and general research services in a virtual environment.
  • Sets up topical and docket Alert services on electronic resources for lawyers.
  • Provides reference and research services using Firm resources, outside library memberships and sources, and a wide variety of in-house subscription databases.

Transactional and Litigation Secretary

Cleveland

We are seeking candidates for a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Secretary for our litigation and transactional practice areas in our downtown Cleveland office.  Scheduled hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  This position will provide secretarial support/administrative assistance to both litigation and transactional attorneys, and manage their workflow. This includes supporting a Senior Partner of the Firm with a highly service-oriented practice and managing their large client portfolio.

 

The job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Type correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents to be reviewed by attorneys/paralegals.
  • Establish and maintain attorney calendars, contact lists, and deadline reminder systems.
  • Maintain attorneys’ and general office files.
  • Review and prepare files to be closed when matters are complete.
  • Observe best practices to maintain confidentiality of attorney-client relationship.

Qualified candidates will have at least a high school diploma or GED, and a minimum of 5 years of legal secretarial/administrative experience.  Familiarity in both litigation and transactional practice areas is preferred.
